Tab

Keeps the running tab for your house, so nobody has to.

Housemates, family, a book club, a camping trip: someone always ends up keeping track of who paid for what. Tab keeps that record for you. Everyone sees the shared bills, everyone sees what they owe, and nobody has to send the "hey, just a reminder" text.

Tab is being built in the open. Version 0.1.0 is the foundation: it runs, but you can't log expenses with it yet. Everything below is what it's for.

What it's for

Splitting bills

Evenly, by exact amounts, or the real-life way: "$70 off the top for the heater, then 60/40 for the rest."

Reading bills for you

Forward the electric bill's email. Tab suggests the entry and the split; you tap to confirm. Nothing is added without you.

Paying back in pieces

Pay $40 now and $60 next week. The balance just goes down. No "partially settled" fuss.

Keeping your spending yours

Log your own purchases next to the shared ones. Nobody else in the group can see them, not even whoever set the group up.

Asking from Claude

Connect Tab to Claude Code or Claude Desktop and ask "what does Marcus owe me?" It runs on your own Claude plan.

Taking your data with you

Export everything to a spreadsheet, any time, on every plan.

What it won't do

  • Show you ads. Not on the free plan, not ever.
  • Cap how many expenses you can log a day to push you into paying.
  • Sell or share your data.
  • Move money. Tab keeps the record; you pay people however you already do.

Two ways to have it

Run it yourself

Free, forever. One command on a spare computer or a cheap server, and the data never leaves your hands. How to run it

Let us host it

Not open yet. When it is, every new account gets 3 months of Plus free. After that there's a free plan, and Plus, which reads your bills for you, is $10 a year. See pricing
